How to install
Unzip it
Open MatterAE.zip, you will find a MatterAE.zxp file inside.
Install the .zxp with a free ZXP installer
After Effects retired its old Extension Manager, so a .zxp will not install on a double-click. Use either Anastasiy's Extension Manager or the aescripts + aeplugins ZXP Installer, both free. Open it and drag MatterAE.zxp into the window.
Restart After Effects
Quit fully and reopen.
Open the panel
Go to Window > Extensions > MatterAE. Dock it, select a few layers, press play.
